Most of our guest rooms and condos here at Baker’s Sunset Bay Resort feature fully-equipped kitchens, so you’ll never have to leave your lake-view accommodation to enjoy delicious home-cooking. But our beautiful lakefront resort is also minutes from dozens of sensational family-friendly Wisconsin Dells restaurants. Whether you’re hoping to treat the entire family to a yummy dinner or merely hoping to take a break from the kitchen altogether, we highly recommend voyaging to Lake Delton and Wisconsin Dells for a memorable meal this winter during your stay in South Central Wisconsin.
Fine Dining: The Del-Bar
It’s never easy choosing between dozens of spectacular Wisconsin Dells restaurants, but The Del-Bar in Lake Delton was a no-brainer. Not only is The Del-Bar less than two miles from Baker’s Sunset Bay Resort, but they provide the best fine dining experience in the area. This elegant and charming supper club has been in business since World War II, so you know they’re doing everything right. The Del-Bar is known for its succulent steak, fresh seafood, and exquisite dessert. We particularly love their aged 14-ounce New York strip steak with a baked potato, pan-fried walleye with brown rice pilaf, and chicken schnitzel with creamy mashed potatoes.
Breakfast, Lunch, or Dinner: The Keg & Patio
The Keg is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, a convenient feature that most Wisconsin Dells restaurants cannot match. Not only do they have arguably the best drink menu in the area and scrumptious American fare in an ideal location, but they also have an on-site ice skating rink – you don’t see that every day! During the warmer months, the ice rink transforms back into one of the premier outdoor patios in South Central Wisconsin.
The casual, cozy interior features stacks of kegs, street signs honoring the state’s best craft breweries, and exposed wooden-beamed ceilings. For breakfast, we recommend the smokey brisket benedict, which is highlighted by slow in-house smoked brisket and homemade hollandaise sauce. The monster “early bird” burger is topped with cheddar cheese, grilled cherry-smoked bacon from Jones Dairy Farm out of Fort Atkinson, and an over-easy egg inside of a warm pretzel bun. For dinner, families love The Keg’s fully-loaded housemade thin-crust pizzas, the Friday “Fish Fry,” and the juicy prime rib sandwich.
Cheap Eats: Brat House Grill
Sometimes families just want a quick, inexpensive meal that everyone can enjoy in-between stints at the waterpark or serene Lake Delton – that’s where the Brat House Grill comes into play. The Brat House Grill is only 1.2 miles down the road from Baker’s, one of the best Wisconsin Dells resorts. The Brat House Grill operates out of the oldest building in South Central Wisconsin. This unpretentious local bar rests inside the Delton Academy’s original home, a one-room all-boys Baptist schoolhouse. With several additions to the original foundation, this historic building also housed the Delton Methodist Church, the Grand Army of the Republic, and the Old Academy Antique Mall. The prices here are low, the German-inspired cuisine is delicious, and a local sports game is always on! We recommend the Wisconsin cheddar-cheese-infused brat, the 1/3-pound blackened jalapeno burger, and the “Big Daddy” four-cheese macaroni.
